About Dr. Youssef

I am a board certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist practicing in Los Angeles. I received my M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where I was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. I also received my Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Behavior from Columbia University. I completed both residency training in Adult Psychiatry and fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UCLA. I served as chief resident in my final year of residency. I have received extensive training in medication management of psychiatric disorders. I have also received training in multiple forms of psychotherapy, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), and Structural Family Therapy. I am currently completing training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the New Center for Psychoanalysis.

My areas of practice include depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, psychosis, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, eating disorders, PMDD, trauma, and college mental health. Treatment can also be helpful for those without a diagnosis who are experiencing life stressors, transitions, and emotional difficulties. My experience working with individuals across the lifespan—from children to older adults—has deepened my understanding of the unique developmental, emotional, and psychological needs at each stage of life. This perspective enhances my ability to provide compassionate, age-appropriate, and effective psychiatric care to patients at all life stages. I also have experience with medication management for those who are pregnant or considering pregnancy.
